The Alma Convertible Silk Taffeta Skirt

Alma Convertible SkirtThe Alma Skirt is a couture statement piece designed for movement, versatility, and self-expression. Handcrafted from luxurious silk taffeta, each skirt is exclusively hand-texturized in-house at the Priscilla Couture atelier, creating a sculptural surface that is both lightweight and dramatic.

Designed with hidden adjustable ties beneath the skirt, Alma allows you to transform its silhouette effortlessly. Adjust the volume, lift the hemline, or create cascading drapes to create a look that is uniquely yours. Wear it long and architectural for a grand entrance or shorten selected sections for a more dynamic, avant-garde silhouette.

A true multi-style couture piece, the Alma Skirt transitions effortlessly from formal occasions to everyday luxury. Pair it with a custom Priscilla Couture corset or couture top for a dramatic bridal or evening look, or style it with a simple T-shirt, knit, or tailored jacket for an unexpected contrast that feels modern and effortlessly chic.

Designed to be worn long after the celebration, Alma redefines couture as an investment rather than a single occasion garment. Whether worn on your wedding day, at a gala, or styled for an editorial-inspired everyday look, it evolves with you.

Each Alma Skirt is made to order and can be customized in your preferred color, length, and proportions, ensuring a truly one-of-a-kind couture creation.

Materials

The Alma Skirt is created from a single principal couture material selected for its structure, movement, and ability to hold the atelier’s exclusive hand-texturized finish:

  • 100% silk taffeta

Silk taffeta gives Alma its avant-garde aesthetic while remaining architectural and playful by adjusting hidden ties beneath the skirt. The material can support sculptural shapes, shorter sections, and cascading drapes without sacrificing movement.

The final material requirements and construction may vary when the design is customized. Garment-specific cleaning, storage, and maintenance instructions are provided when the completed skirt is delivered.

Customization Options

The Alma Skirt can be personalized through the Priscilla Couture bespoke experience. Available options include:

  • Personalized measurements
  • Custom color
  • Custom skirt length
  • Personalized proportions
  • Volume adjustments
  • Placement and range of adjustable sections
  • Styling as part of a complete couture ensemble

Customization feasibility is confirmed during the consultation and design process. Requested changes may affect the final investment, materials, construction, and production timeline.

How to Style the Alma Skirt

Alma can be styled as a custom bridal skirt, couture evening separate, sculptural cape, or fashion-forward wardrobe piece. Its adaptable construction allows the garment to move between formal and relaxed styling.

For a bridal or evening look, pair Alma with a sculpted corset, couture bodice, fitted bodysuit, or custom top. The Sensous Bodysuit offers a close-fitting contemporary foundation, while the Queen Lace Bralette creates a more delicate, lingerie-inspired composition.

After the celebration, Alma can be reinterpreted with a simple T-shirt, fine knit, tailored jacket, or minimalist top. This contrast between couture texture and familiar wardrobe pieces allows the skirt to remain relevant well beyond its original occasion.

Wedding Themes for the Alma Skirt

The Alma Skirt is especially suited to celebrations that embrace sculptural fashion, transformation, and individuality. Its architectural silk taffeta and adjustable silhouette complement:

  • Avant-garde weddings
  • Modern weddings
  • Fashion-forward weddings
  • Editorial weddings
  • City weddings
  • Gallery and museum weddings
  • Industrial and loft weddings
  • Black-tie celebrations
  • Courthouse weddings
  • Wedding reception and second-look styling
  • Art-inspired celebrations
  • Nontraditional bridal styling
  • Just because

These themes are styling recommendations rather than limitations. Alma’s final color, proportions, coordinating top, and arrangement can be developed around the setting and character of an individual celebration.

Designed for the Wedding and Beyond

Alma is designed to continue evolving after the wedding. Its hidden ties and convertible construction allow the wearer to create new silhouettes for galas, formal dinners, anniversary celebrations, fashion events, editorial photography, and other meaningful occasions.

It can also be styled as a couture cape or paired with understated wardrobe pieces for a more relaxed expression. This versatility transforms Alma from a single wedding look into a continuing part of the wearer’s personal collection.

The Alma Skirt Bespoke Process

Every Alma Skirt is created according to the wearer’s measurements rather than produced in a standard size. The journey begins with a complimentary 45-minute consultation to discuss the skirt, styling possibilities, preferred color, measurements, celebration date, location, and recommended direction.

Production requires a minimum of 90 days after the final design and personalized digital Dress Avatar have been approved. Consultation, design development, hand texturizing, material sourcing, and shipping require additional time, so commissions should begin well before the garment is needed.

In-person clients generally require one to four fittings depending on the selected proportions and customization. Remote clients receive instructions for taking their measurements and review a personalized digital Dress Avatar before production. Remote commissions do not include in-person fitting sessions.

Alma Skirt FAQ

Is the Alma Skirt made to measure?

Yes. Every Alma Skirt is made according to the wearer’s individual measurements. Its length, proportions, and overall composition are developed for the person who will wear it rather than selected from standard sizing and altered afterward.

How does the Alma Skirt change silhouettes?

Hidden adjustable ties beneath the skirt allow the wearer to lift selected sections, change the hemline, redistribute volume, and create cascading drapes. These adjustments transform Alma from a long architectural skirt into more dynamic and asymmetrical compositions.

The atelier provides garment-specific guidance for adjusting the ties and creating different silhouettes without compromising the silk taffeta or hand-texturized surface.

Can the Alma Skirt be ordered in another color?

Yes. Alma can be commissioned in the wearer’s preferred color, subject to the availability and suitability of the selected silk taffeta. Color options are reviewed during the complimentary consultation.

Can the length and volume be customized?

Yes. Alma’s overall length, proportions, and volume can be personalized during the design process. Its hidden ties also allow the wearer to wear the skirt multi-ways

What can I wear with the Alma Skirt?

Alma can be paired with a custom corset, couture top, bridal bodice, fitted bodysuit, bralette, or another made-to-measure separate. For a more relaxed contrast, it can also be worn with a simple T-shirt, knit, minimalist top, or tailored jacket.

Can the Alma Skirt be worn after the wedding?

Yes. Alma was intentionally designed for continued wear. Its adjustable silhouette and skirt-and-cape construction allow it to be restyled for galas, anniversaries, formal dinners, fashion events, editorial occasions, and elevated everyday looks.

How long does the Alma Skirt take to make?

Production requires a minimum of 90 days after the final design and personalized digital Dress Avatar have been approved. This minimum includes the consultation, design-development period, material sourcing, hand texturizing, and shipping.

Rush commissions are considered individually. Availability and additional rush fees are discussed during the complimentary consultation.

Can I commission the Alma Skirt if I live outside Philadelphia?

Yes. Priscilla Couture works with clients throughout the United States and internationally. Remote clients receive measurement guidance and review a personalized digital Dress Avatar before production begins.

The client is responsible for shipping, insurance, duties, taxes, customs charges, brokerage fees, and other destination expenses.

How should the Alma Skirt be cleaned and stored?

Care depends on the completed garment’s silk taffeta, hand-texturized finish, color, adjustable construction, and any customized details. The skirt should not be washed, dry-cleaned, steamed, pressed, or otherwise treated without following the atelier’s instructions.

Priscilla Couture provides garment-specific cleaning, storage, and maintenance directions when the completed Alma Skirt is delivered. Those instructions should take precedence over general silk-care recommendations.
